Events
Celebrating our most basic civil right, Freedom to Speak! events run at selected King County Libraries on September 17th and 18th from 7 to 9 PM. These Constitution Day events address three general issues:
  • Fundamental Freedoms. What good is the Right of Free Speech if you cannot speak freely?
  • Fair Freedoms. What good is the Right to Free Speech if some people have much more freedom than you do?
  • Functional Freedoms. What good is the Right to Free Speech if you are not really free?
Although some believe that the First Amendment only narrowly forbids certain government actions, others see that many different types of restrictions constrain our Freedom to Speak.
